'It is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.'  I have been blessed to live this truth. My passion for the subject, for teaching, and for life-long learning drives me -- constantly growing and evolving to best serve the students and the industry.

With a focus on student success, I use a variety of teaching methods to engage the learning styles of a diverse student population. Participants are encouraged to be actively involved in an energetic and upbeat learning experience.

My courses are taught with the latest fashion industry concepts and content, helping students develop the professional skills needed in today’s market.  Students are prepared for the workplace through the integration of technology, marketable course projects, and interaction with the industry via field trips and guest speaker presentations.

Research and organization are key components to my teaching strategy. The assignments and course deliverables I use are focused on current industry application. The assessment criteria I have developed is strategically constructed to assess participant success and provide continuous support and feedback throughout each course.  Please see some examples of my work in fashion education below:

TEXTILES

In FASH150 students do a deep dive into   the raw material of fashion -- fibers and fabrications.  Students learn to identify properties of natural and man-made fibers, the characteristics of yarns, knitting and weaving construction methods and learn to select fabric for specific applications.  Sustainability in textiles and fashion is woven throughout the course.  See examples from the course here.
