Intermediate apparel construction principles, techniques and skills in the production of various garments. Focus on the planning and construction of an ensemble/collection of intermediate complexity with emphasis on advanced finishing details and custom fitting

FASH180 Introduction to Draping

Study of draping techniques in the development of original draped garments.   Original design sketches translated into finished garments using 3D fabric manipulation to create production ready 2D patterns

Analysis of garment fit, common issues and detailed application of construction and pattern making knowledge for problem solving and desired revisions

FASH255 Specification Technology

Study of the apparel technical package and its importance in the product development process. Students learn the latest industry specification software, Gerber Yunique PLM, to develop detailed and accurate apparel technical packages

FASH150 Textiles

Student learn to differentiate fibers and fabrics according to their specific characteristics.  They are also able to identify properties and characteristics of natural and man-made fibers, the properties and characteristics of yarns, fabric construction methods including weaving and knitting and various finishing processes including printing and dyeing.

FASH275 Fashion Portfolio Development

Development of the fashion portfolio containing original design work, illustrations, flats, specifications, photographs, and available trend resources.  Focus on professional layout and production of work for design presentations are emphasized using various media.

FASH268 NYC FIELD STUDY: THE MARKET CENTER

Students have the opportunity for an invaluable learning experience through exploration and immersion in the fashion industry in New York City.  Students network and learn from fashion industry professionals, bond with fellow students and experience outstanding hands-on career learning.
